Teacher, broadcaster and writer
Isn't life wonderful ? I have a three part test for happiness.
Have there been any incoming rounds in the last 48 hours ?
Is there clean water in the tap ?
Is the electric power stable enough for us to work ?
Not all these conditions are true for all my friends, and at times none have been true for me. If they are true, and if fate
throws in a clean shirt as well, then it's probably my fault if I'm less than ecstatically happy.
More about me
I teach Information and Communications Technology, and sometimes Maths, at Shiplake College, near Henley on Thames. I am Housemaster of Burr House. I have also taught at Magdalen College School, Oxford, where I was Head of Computing.
Before taking up teaching I worked for the
British Forces Broadcasting Service in many countries including Kuwait,
Norway, Bosnia and the Falkland Islands.
I like talking, walking (one day I hope to complete the Ridgeway/Icknield Way, the oldest defined path in Britain), writing and reading stories.
One of the first media skills I acquired was composing type by hand, taught by my brother John Randle at the Whittington Press,
which supports the Fine Print Book Association.
I like Blues, especially from the '30s and '40s - also a favourite period for photography and Franklin D Roosevelt.
